The Imitation Game is a nail-biting race against time following Alan Turing (pioneer of modern-day computing and credited with cracking the German Enigma code) and his brilliant team at Britain's top-secret code-breaking centre, Bletchley Park, during the darkest days of World War II. Turing, whose contributions and genius significantly shortened the war, saving thousands of lives, was the eventual victim of an unenlightened British establishment, but his work and legacy live on.

That actually has nothing to do with Sherlock taking a long time to create. It has always taken two years between seasons, and considering that there are three episodes for every season, and each are the average run time for a movie I would say they are doing well considering the quality of each episode and season.

  2. Norbert Evenich Dude. So many people you may talk to everyday are only alive because Turing (the subject of this film) saved their parents' lives in the war. I think that's a little more important to pay tribute to than faster releases of Sherlock. :)

And as someone else said, they come out slowly regardless, he had plenty of spare time while waiting on post-production, to be in this movie.
